The basket stretcher provides both a comfortable and compact method of evacuating a casualty from an enclosed space, or areas where access may be restricted or difficult.
Formed by a double skinned polyethylene moulding, and fitted with four moulded skids on the bottom of the stretcher,
it offers strong, lightweight construction, that is both smooth and easy to handle.
This makes it less likely to catch or snag on obstructions, and being double sided, offers suberb protection against penetration by sharp objects.
It is used extensively in the North Sea marine and offshore industries.
The casualty is placed in the stretcher and held in by three quick-release body retaining straps,
made of heavy-duty nylon webbing and fastened to the stretcher via the hand holds.
