The R1 Lithium Battery has a 5 year storage life and a 12 hour (10/10/80 duty cycle-transmit/receive/squelched) operational life. The expiry date information is clearly marked on the battery. Under IMO and SOLAS rules the lithium battery must be replaced by the expiry date. If the R1 VHF is used at any time within the 5 year period then the Lithium Battery must also be replaced. The R1 Lithium Battery Pack is classed as non-hazardous for shipping purposes.
