The Nicad Battery Pack must be purchased if you wish to use the R2 VHF for general day to day radio communication. In this case, if you wish to comply with the GMDSS rules you must also purchase a Lithium Battery Pack and keep it in a secure location close to the R2 VHF, in
preperation for any emergencies. A suitable charger will need to be selected for this battery option.
